Integrity test

General test confirming structural and watertight performance of a drain or chamber.

An integrity test is any procedure used to verify that a drain or chamber is structurally sound and watertight. The category includes water tests, air tests and vacuum tests carried out under BS EN 1610, supplemented where appropriate by CCTV inspection under BS EN 13508-2 and dye tracing to confirm correct connections. Integrity testing is commonly required after new build construction, after relining or patch repair under BS EN ISO 11296, before adoption of pipework by Thames Water under Sewers for Adoption and on insurance reinstatement schemes across London. Engineers select the appropriate combination of methods based on the type and size of pipework, accessibility and the regulatory context. A clear written record supports sign-off, including under Building Regulations Part H, and forms part of project handover documentation.
