BS EN 752 (drainage outside buildings)

European Standard for design and construction of drain and sewer systems outside buildings.

BS EN 752 is the UK and European Standard for the design and construction of drain and sewer systems outside buildings, covering both gravity and pumped flows from individual properties through to large adopted networks. The standard sets out performance requirements, hydraulic design principles, materials selection, installation and testing, and replaces a range of earlier national standards. It is widely referenced across London developments and in Sewers for Adoption documents used by Thames Water in s.104 agreements. Practical implications for homeowners and contractors include the use of BS EN 752 principles in any new drainage design submitted under Building Regulations Part H, including soakaway sizing, pipe gradient and access provision. The standard is regularly cross-referenced with BS EN 1610 for pipe laying and BS EN 13476 for PVC-U pipe products. The formal reference is BS EN 752:2017.
