Drainage chamber base

Moulded preformed base unit forming the foundation of an inspection chamber.

A drainage chamber base is a moulded preformed unit that forms the foundation of an inspection chamber, providing pre-shaped channels and seal sockets for incoming and outgoing pipework. UK chamber bases for private drainage are typically PVC-U with branch sockets at standard angles, sized for 110mm pipework in line with Building Regulations Part H1. The base is bedded on a concrete or granular material and shafts and rings are built up on top to suit the cover level. Smooth channels at the base of the chamber minimise turbulence and reduce the risk of debris settling out. For deeper or heavier duty installations, precast concrete benched bases are used, often with step irons. Correct selection of the right base reduces site work and ensures consistent hydraulic performance.
