NICEIC certification

NICEIC certification is a long-established UK industry scheme that registers electrical contractors competent to work in accordance with BS 7671 and Part P of the Building Regulations. While NICEIC is primarily an electrical accreditation, it is often referenced alongside drainage works because pumping stations, macerators and small treatment plants require qualified electrical installation as well as plumbing. NICEIC also operates separate plumbing and gas schemes for relevant trades. Practical implications for homeowners commissioning a project that combines drainage and electrical components, such as a basement pumping installation or rainwater harvesting system, include the need to ensure each element is carried out by appropriately certified contractors. The formal reference is the NICEIC scheme document and the underlying British Standard BS 7671. Building Control will typically request certification at final inspection.
