Spot repair (drain)

Short localised repair targeting a single defect inside a drain.

A spot repair is a short-length internal repair installed at a single defect, such as an open joint, a hairline crack or a small root entry, without renewing the rest of the pipe. The technique uses a short CIPP patch on a packer, an internal joint seal or a robotic injection of resin, depending on the type of defect. Spot repairs are most appropriate where CCTV inspection has confirmed that the surrounding pipework is otherwise sound, common on relatively short Victorian clay drains in central London. They are not a substitute for full lining where multiple defects exist along a run. Typical works take three to six hours including pre-clean, installation and a verification CCTV survey.
