No-dig drain repair is an umbrella term for techniques that renew or seal drainage pipework without breaking ground along the full length of the defect. The most common approaches are cured-in-place pipe lining, patch repair, pipe bursting and slip lining. These methods reduce disruption to gardens, paving and listed building fabric, which is a key consideration on London properties in conservation areas or behind tight side-access alleys. No-dig methods generally cost less than full open-cut replacement once reinstatement of paving and landscaping is accounted for. They are not suitable for every situation, however, as severely collapsed, badly deformed or partially missing pipes may still require traditional excavation and renewal under Building Regulations Part H.
