Vitrified clay (Hepworth brand)

Branded UK vitrified clay pipe system widely specified in modern foul drainage installations.

Hepworth is a long-established UK manufacturer of vitrified clay drainage pipe, with branded ranges such as SuperSleve and HepLine widely specified for adopted sewers and high-quality foul drainage. The pipes are produced in accordance with BS EN 295 and feature push-fit polyurethane couplings rather than the rigid cement joints of older clay systems. This gives the modern product significant flexibility while retaining the chemical resistance and longevity of traditional vitrified clay. On a CCTV survey, Hepworth pipework is identifiable by its distinctive black coupling rings, smooth glazed bore and consistent socket profile. The material is commonly specified by Thames Water for adopted runs in London new builds where long service life is a key requirement. While more expensive than PVC-U, it offers proven durability over 100+ year horizons.
