Glass-reinforced liner

Glass-fibre reinforced CIPP liner for high-strength structural rehabilitation of damaged sewers.

A glass-reinforced liner is a high-strength CIPP product manufactured from a glass-fibre fabric tube impregnated with polyester or vinyl ester resin and typically cured in place using ultraviolet light trains. The resulting liner is significantly stiffer than equivalent felt products and is specified where greater structural performance is needed, such as for severely cracked or partially collapsed sewers. UK installations follow BS EN ISO 11296-4 and Water UK recommended practices. In Greater London the technique is used on selected adopted sewer rehabilitation contracts under Thames Water frameworks. Glass-reinforced liners are identifiable on post-installation CCTV by their pale ribbed finish and slight glass fibre texture. The method generally requires the host pipe to be cleaned and surveyed in advance, and any major obstructions removed using cutting robots.
