Lining curing

Process of hardening a CIPP liner once installed inside a host pipe.

Lining curing is the stage of a CIPP installation where the liner's thermosetting resin hardens against the host pipe wall to form the new pipe. Curing methods include ambient temperature, hot water circulation, steam introduction and ultraviolet light, each with characteristic durations and equipment requirements. The cure must follow the resin manufacturer's profile to achieve the structural performance set out in BS EN ISO 11296-4, including hoop stiffness and flexural strength. Inadequate cure leaves a soft, undersized liner with reduced design life, while overcuring can embrittle the resin. The cure is monitored using internal temperature sensors, light intensity logs or time and temperature records, with the documentation forming part of the as-installed records handed to the client.
