Listed Building drain survey

Drain survey carried out at a listed building, taking heritage protection into account.

A Listed Building drain survey is a CCTV inspection and drainage assessment carried out at a property protected under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, taking heritage considerations into account. Many older London properties, including significant Georgian, Regency and early Victorian houses in boroughs such as Westminster, Camden and Kensington and Chelsea, are listed and need careful planning of any drainage works. Engineers carry out the survey to BS EN 13508-2, grading defects against the WRc Manual of Sewer Condition Classification, and emphasise no-dig methods to protect historic fabric. The report supports listed building consent applications, planning consent and related Building Regulations Part H submissions. Repair options under BS EN ISO 11296 such as cured-in-place lining are typically preferred over excavation where they are technically suitable and acceptable to the local conservation officer.
