Stop end

Sealed cap fitted to the end of a drainage channel or pipe to prevent flow escape.

A stop end is a sealed cap or moulded fitting that closes off the end of a drainage channel, gutter or pipe to retain flows and prevent debris entering the system. On linear drainage channels, stop ends often incorporate an integral inlet for a tap-off pipe or a small clean-out plug. UK installations follow BS EN 1433 for channel drainage and BS EN 752 for general drainage practice. Stop ends are commonly used to terminate a channel run against a wall or step or to convert an inline channel into a single outlet configuration. They are usually bonded with a flexible sealant suitable for outdoor use to maintain a watertight joint. Damaged or missing stop ends can allow soil and debris to enter the channel, leading to gradual blockage.
