SuDS condition survey

Survey assessing the condition and performance of Sustainable Drainage System components.

A SuDS condition survey assesses the condition and performance of Sustainable Drainage System components such as swales, attenuation tanks, permeable paving, soakaways, ponds and bio-retention features. The survey identifies sediment build-up, clogging, structural defects, vegetation overgrowth and any issues affecting hydraulic performance. In Greater London the survey supports compliance with the Non-statutory Technical Standards for SuDS, local planning conditions and the London Plan policies on managing surface water sustainably. Engineers carry out inspection including CCTV under BS EN 13508-2 of any associated pipework and report findings against expected design performance, with reference to BS 8582 and Building Regulations Part H3. The output informs targeted maintenance, repair and any necessary remediation, and is widely commissioned by managing agents, developers and freeholders responsible for adopted or privately retained SuDS infrastructure.
