A bath waste is the fitting at the foot of a bath that combines the main drain outlet at the base with an overflow at the rim, both of which lead to a single bath trap below the floor. UK bath wastes follow BS EN 274 and are typically 40mm or 1.5 inches, in chrome plated brass or plastic with chrome covers. Modern bath wastes often use a flexible corrugated overflow pipe and feature pop-up plugs operated by turning the overflow cover. Installation must comply with Building Regulations Part H1, with a minimum 75mm water seal and a P-trap. Replacement of bath wastes in upper-floor London bathrooms often requires access from below through the ceiling, especially with cast iron baths supported on plinths.
