CAD drainage plan

Scaled CAD drawing of a drainage system showing pipes, chambers and connections.

A CAD drainage plan is a scaled drawing prepared using computer aided design software that shows the layout of a drainage system including pipes, chambers, gullies, soakaways and connection points. Plans are produced to BS 1192 conventions, with line types, hatching and labels following industry standards. In Greater London, CAD drainage plans are required for many planning and Building Regulations Part H submissions, particularly for new build housing, extensions, basement conversions and adoption schemes with Thames Water under Sewers for Adoption. The drawing draws on data from CCTV surveys to BS EN 13508-2, sonde tracing, drain mapping and any historic records held by the local authority and Thames Water. The output supports design, construction, ongoing maintenance and any future investigation or repair work.
