Drain digitised mapping converts the findings of a drain mapping survey into a digital plan showing the accurate route, depth, diameter, material and connection of each pipe on a site, along with chambers, gullies, soakaways and any other drainage components. The data is typically delivered in CAD format and may be integrated into wider GIS or BIM models for larger sites. Engineers combine CCTV inspection to BS EN 13508-2, sonde tracing and surface measurement to produce an accurate baseline. In Greater London, digitised mapping is widely used by managing agents, commercial estates and freeholders responsible for large residential blocks. The output supports planned maintenance, repairs, adoption negotiations with Thames Water and design of any new connections under Building Regulations Part H. The work is carried out by qualified engineers.
