A push-fit assembly tool combines a silicone-based jointing lubricant and a mechanical lever or strap to push large diameter PVC-U or polypropylene drainage pipes fully home into their seal. Lubricant is applied to the chamfered pipe end and the ring seal, and the lever or strap is used to provide controlled force without damaging the pipe or fitting. Correct assembly is critical to ensure the ring seal is not dislodged or rolled, since a poorly assembled joint will leak under hydraulic and root pressure. Engineers should follow the manufacturer's recommended insertion depth and use only lubricants compatible with the seal material. The technique applies to 110mm and 160mm domestic drainage as well as larger pipes used on commercial sites and sewer adoption schemes.
