Push-fit fitting

Pipe joint with internal grippers and seals allowing connection without tools or solder.

A push-fit fitting is a pipe joint in which an internal grip ring and rubber O-ring seal allow pipes to be connected simply by pushing them into the fitting. UK push-fit systems are manufactured to BS 7291 for plastic pipework and are widely used on cold and hot water supplies, central heating circuits and waste pipework in domestic properties. Push-fit fittings can be released and reused with appropriate tools, which makes them useful for first-fix in new build and refurbishment projects across London. Care must be taken to deburr cut pipe ends and insert them fully to the marked depth, with a pipe insert fitted to plastic pipes to prevent collapse. Push-fit fittings are not generally used on gas installations and should be installed within the temperature and pressure ratings of the manufacturer.
