Wall-hung toilet

Toilet pan fixed to the wall with a concealed cistern and no contact with the floor.

A wall-hung toilet has its pan fixed to a steel support frame built into the wall, with no contact between the pan and the floor and the cistern concealed inside the framing. This arrangement provides a clean, modern appearance and makes cleaning around the base much easier. UK installations follow BS EN 997 for pans and BS EN 12541 for concealed cisterns, and the support frame must be capable of withstanding the loads set out in BS 6465-1. Wall-hung toilets are commonly specified in contemporary London flat refurbishments and in commercial washrooms. Installation is more complex than for a close-coupled pan, as the frame must be plumb, square and securely fixed to the structural wall. Future maintenance requires access through a removable flush plate or service panel.
