A mini push-rod camera is a small high-resolution camera head mounted on a stiffened flexible cable that is pushed manually through domestic drains and waste pipes. Units typically cover 20 to 60 metres of run in pipes from 32mm up to 150mm. The cable carries an integrated sonde transmitter for surface location of the camera position and depth. Push-rod cameras are the workhorse of domestic drainage surveys across London, fitting easily through small access chambers and rodding eyes in conservation area properties. Operators record full video and snapshots and produce a written report referencing the WRc Manual of Sewer Condition Classification. Cables should be inspected for kinks, head focus checked, and the lens cleaned between jobs to maintain reliable image quality.
