Push rod camera

Drain camera mounted on a flexible rod, pushed manually through smaller pipes.

A push rod camera is a CCTV inspection system in which a small waterproof camera head is mounted on the end of a flexible rod and pushed manually through smaller domestic drainage pipework. The camera transmits live video to a screen, with footage recorded for review. The system is well suited to internal waste pipes, branch drains and small diameter lines from 50mm upwards. Distance counters and built-in sondes allow engineers to record the position of defects, and the technique is widely used by qualified engineers carrying out home drain surveys across Greater London. Inspection is carried out in accordance with BS EN 13508-2 and the WRc Manual of Sewer Condition Classification. Push rod cameras are typically the first choice for routine domestic surveys, with crawler systems used on larger commercial lines.
