A pan and tilt camera is a CCTV head that can rotate independently of the carrier rod or crawler, allowing engineers to inspect the inside of a drain in close-up detail and look directly into junctions, lateral connections and around defects. The articulation enables thorough condition grading against BS EN 13508-2 and the WRc Manual of Sewer Condition Classification. Pan and tilt heads are most commonly fitted to crawler cameras used on sewers and larger private drainage across Greater London, including investigations for adoption assessment with Thames Water under Sewers for Adoption. The detailed imagery supports planning of no-dig repairs under BS EN ISO 11296, accurate measurement of defect length and circumferential position, and reliable documentation for insurance, dilapidations and party wall purposes. The work is carried out by qualified engineers.
