Shower waste

A shower waste is the fitting in the base of a shower tray that receives water from the showerhead and connects to the trap and waste pipe below. UK shower wastes follow BS EN 274 and BS EN 1253 and are sized to match the discharge from typical UK showers, with high flow versions available for power and rain showers. The waste is normally combined with an integral trap that maintains a water seal in line with Building Regulations Part H1. Removable grilles allow hair and soap residue to be cleared, although these are a common cause of slow drainage if not cleaned regularly. Linear shower channel wastes are increasingly used in wet rooms across London bathrooms to provide a discreet line drain at the floor level.
