Shower tray

Shallow base of a shower enclosure collecting water and directing it to a central waste.

A shower tray is the shallow base of a shower enclosure that collects water from the showerhead and directs it to a central waste outlet. UK shower trays are manufactured to BS EN 14527, in materials including ceramic, stone resin, acrylic and steel. Standard sizes range from compact 700mm squares to large 1800mm by 900mm rectangles for walk-in showers. Installation must comply with Building Regulations Part H1 for waste connections and Part G for water supply. The tray is bedded on a level base, supported around its edges and sealed at the wall junction with a flexible sealant or upstand. Modern low-profile trays sit close to the floor for an easy access shower. Trays must always be supported across their full underside to prevent flexing and cracking.
