A structural condition grade reflects the structural integrity of the pipework observed during a CCTV drain survey, scored from 1 to 5 under the WRc Manual of Sewer Condition Classification. The grade considers cracks, fractures, broken pipe, displaced joints, deformation and other defects affecting the long-term ability of the drain to perform safely. A grade 5 structural condition typically indicates severe damage with a high risk of collapse, warranting prompt repair. The grading is used by Thames Water, adoption schemes under Sewers for Adoption and private surveyors carrying out CCTV inspections to BS EN 13508-2 across Greater London. The output supports prioritisation of relining under BS EN ISO 11296, patch repair or open-cut replacement under BS EN 1610, and provides a defensible basis for discussions with insurers and freeholders about repair scope and cost.
